Lyrics

Autistic Girl
by Kay Francis Copyright ©️ Dec. 12, 2024

She’s got a heart full of colours, a mind like a storm
A world of wonder where she was born
But the noise is loud, and the lights too bright,
Everyday battles in this endless plight
She’s an autistic girl in a neurotypical world

They say, “snap out of it,” but she’s staring at the floor,
She just wants to be what they’re looking for.
She tries to speak, but she has no voice
Her body just rocks having no other choice
She’s an autistic girl in a neurotypical world

She’s just an autistic girl  in a neurotypical world,
The puzzle pieces don’t fit, feeling helpless,
ready to quit.
But she’s an artist, a thinker, a dreamer untamed
in this world why does different feel like shame?

Overwhelmed by textures, the smells and the sounds,
The ticking clock. in a world that pounds.
They say, “Just be normal,”. but what does that mean?
she’s gone Non verbal. unable to speak

Why do they fear what they don’t understand?
Her mind is a galaxy, not a barren land.
She feels every thing like a tidal wave,
Craving a world where’s she’s free to play.

She’s just an autistic girl  in a neurotypical world,
The puzzle pieces don’t fit, feeling helpless,
ready to quit.
But she’s an artist, a thinker, a dreamer untamed
in this world why does different feel like shame?
Why can’t we put an end to the blame?
